San Augustine Visitor's Center

Creek behind the Visitor's Center

San Augustine in a Year Round Event hosted by the East Texas Trekkers.  This was a interesting event in the city that claims to be the “Cradle of Texas”.  It is at the junction of U.S. Highway 96, Texas State Highway 21.  The walk starts at the Visitor’s Center.  You leave the visitor’s center by the back door and cross the above boardwark over a creek to a nature trail.  After the nature trail you walk all around town passing historic homes and several lovely churches.

The Azales were in bloom as where the Dogwood trees (both pink and white).  I like the Japanese fringe tree also.

Japanese Fringe TreeWe had a great walk and I collected a new county.
