12/30/12 – Stanton, Tx (Martin County)

It was 42 degrees with brisk winds at 9:30 when we started this 10K walk.  Stanton is the county seat of Martin County and the walk took us around residential areas, downtown, passing a mural, the courthouse and the old county jail.  We continued through residential areas out to the old Carmelite Monastary that is not standing vacant.

Most of the city streets were named St. something or other.  There was a St. Joseph, St. Peter, St. Anne, etc.  It was a nice walk.

I now have only 100 counties to go!

  1. The cactus tree is cute. 🙂 Glad you enjoyed the walk.

I don’t know if it’s because it’s winter, so everything takes on a dreary cast, but everything in that town seems so run down and sad. Some pretty neat photos, though. I especially like the little birdhouse! Have fun walking!
