02/28/2013 – Alice, Tx (Jim Wells County)

It was a long (5 hour) drive to south texas to the town of Alice, the county seat of Jim Wells County.  It was 43 degrees with a sharp north wind blowing when we started walking at 1:45 pm.  Alice was established in 1888. First it was called Bandana, then Kleberg and finally Alice after Alice Gertrudis King Kleberg, the daughter of Richard King, who established the King Ranch.

This is the 257th county in Texas that I have completed a 10K Volksmarch in.
