We did a 10K in Victoria on Saturday. It was a beautiful day. Only 87 degrees when we started. The start didn’t have a bathroom so we headed over to the library and found this statue out front.
We passed a nice park and found this memorial to the people who settled Texas. It displays the six flags that flew over Texas.
We also saw this Confederate Memorial in the same park.
The downtown has a few old buildings left. This one is empty but it was built in 1892
We found this cool mural that was a whole block wide. It looked like stores so I had DH go pretend to open a door. LOL
Next we passed this catholic church. We went down a couple of blocks, turned and came up the other side of the block and passed the older structure which is now a Catholic school.
The only blooming plants we passed was this cactus and another pretty flower that we saw a lot of in different yards in different colors. I don’t know what it is called though.
Okay so here is some of the old homes that I liked enough to take pictures of. There were many more than this but the styles where pretty much the same as those shown here.
We also passed the old county courthouse which is beautiful. This is actually the second courthouse and it was built in 1892. It is a Romanesque style with a central atrium, a hipped roof and corner pinnacles. It has polychromatic stonework. (info from the historical marker).
We passed several more churches spread out throughout the route.
We also passed a museum, an old movie theatre, and a house with nice stain-glassed windows.
We also saw these bears made up of living plants and this planter on the street.
