Rains County Volksmarched 09/13/2014

This Volksmarching Event hosted by the Dallas Trekkers in Emory gave me the opportunity to pick up a new county.  The walk started at the library but it wasn’t open yet.

We headed over to Hooten’s Hardware to use the bathrooms before going on the trail.

The walk was lovely with temperatures cool enough that jackets felt good.  We drove through rain on the way up so we wore rain gear.

As we approached the finish we took a road through a historic park.  The Church shown below was “Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church”.  The church was built in 1930 and is typical of Texas rural churches.  It was donated to the park in 1997.
