Childress – Childress County – 09/02/2015

Childress County has had three courthouses: 1887, 1891 and the present 1939 courthouse.

Childress County has had three courthouses: 1887, 1891 and the present 1939 courthouse.

After a very long dry spell of new counties we are once again on the road!  Our first county for this trip is Childress. The county seat for Childress County is the city of Childress.

Childress is on US-287 about half way between Wichita Falls and Amarillo.  It will be our home base for all the walks. The Super 8 has graciously agreed to host the “walk box” so in return we stayed there.

We started walking at 2:30 on a clear day with 97 degree temperature.

Thanks for the new post…liked the Vet’s Memorial, but sad to see that the “Eternal Flame” that has gone dark : / Old locomotive was nice, and I bet those old cars might fetch a pretty penny for someone…Thanks for sharing ! ;^)

Looks like a nice old town. Too bad the old hotel and movie theater are empty. It’s nice that they bury the police dogs at the courthouse.

Great pictures. I enjoy taking pictures in small Texas towns.
I really like the k-9 marker
